Camp Infinity at Grand Rapids Community College

This Camp Infinity summer tech camp comprises a series of sessions designed to introduce girls entering grades 5 through 8 this fall, to computer and internet technologies through hands-on activities. Each session aims to engage them in age-appropriate topics, spanning game design, app development, and robotics programming.
During the sessions, campers will have an opportunity to meet with professional women and men who work in technological fields and explore the many exciting and rewarding tech careers. Each week-long technology camp costs $125 per camper and includes a light breakfast and lunch.

Campers in the 5th and 6th grades will enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills while programming the Ozobot Evo robot using block-based programming and designing multi-page websites using HTML/CSS.
Ozobot Evo Robot:
Girls will be introduced to the wonder of coding and robotics with the Ozobot programmable robot, a small programmable robot that can be controlled using block-based programming. Key concepts covered include sequences, loops, conditionals, variables, line navigation, debugging, and color code. learning the fundamental concepts of problem-solving and computer science.
Website Design using HTML and CSS:
Campers will apply their creative skills to design a multi-page website, establish links between pages, structure content using HTML, and style the site with CSS.
Campers in the 7th and 8th grades will enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills while programming Finch 2.0 robots and designing multi-page websites using HTML/CSS.
Finch Robot:
Girls will be introduced to the wonder of coding and robotics with the Bird Brain, Inc. Finch 2.0 robot, a programmable robot that brings computer science to life with a hands-on representation of their code. Key concepts include moving/turning, controlling wheels, pen mount, LEDs, sound, sensors, conditional statements, control structures, and line tracking.
Website Design using HTML and CSS:
Campers will learn how to create a multi-page website, establish links between pages, structure content with HTML, and style their website using CSS.
Throughout each camp series, all campers will interact with both professional women and men working in technological fields, providing them with a broader perspective on the exciting and rewarding careers available in technology.
The cost for each week-long technology camp is $125 per camper and includes a light breakfast and lunch.
